It was found that the Ace of Spades is different from other cards due to a historical reason. In France and England, in the early 18th century, authorities began charging fees for each deck manufactured. Therefore, each Ace of Spades required a stamp to certify that the tax had been paid. In 1828, the British went even further and forced makers to use a unique Ace of Spades, which was usually printed with fancy graphics and the maker's name. This practice is still followed to this day.
